Alimony Blues
BackBernie Hallerman was born May 23, 1921. He is a music lover and has a vast collection of musical albums of all the great performers. After his beloved wife, Jacqueline, suffered a stroke, she and Bernie came to live with Debbie and Steve Robison, Sr., their niece and nephew. Steve Robison, Sr. was born March 7, 1950. Steve has been a musician/songwriter for 40 years. Bernie got the idea for the Alimony Blues when he learned of the blues a certain woman was putting a certain man through. One evening, Bernie jokingly said to Steve, "A song should be written, called the Alimony Blues." Steve began writing the lyrics and Bernie joined in. Together, they wrote the lyrics and began working on the melody and music. That, which started out as a song meant solely for the fun of it, amazingly turned out to be a very catchy tune. It has been played at establishments in St. Louis and all the way down into Mississippi. All who know Bernie and Steve find it quite humorous that an 85 year old man and a 57 year old man would sit down and write a song; moreover, they are quite surprised at how popular the song has become.
